Ustream launched a new app called Broadcast for Friends this week. Currently available only for the iPhone, the app allows you to broadcast live video directly to your Facebook wall.
Videos can be recorded using either the forward-facing or rear-facing camera on your phone, and there are a number of built-in filters â" which can be changed while you shoot â"- to give your video a distinctive look.
Just like music identification apps such as Shazam that listen and identify a songâs name, a new mobile app called Ad Hawk lets you know who is really behind a political ad you see on TV. In addition, the Android and iOS app will let you know how much money the group has, how much cash it's spent in this election, and even how many of its ads are positive vs. negative.
Want to be an American Idol star? This app will help you get there. Featuring songs from Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and more; the karaoke-style app has you sing tunes, record your performances and compete with others. Performances can also be shared on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.
Upscale menswear retailer Mr Porter released its second iPhone app this week, following the suits guide it released in conjunction with USA Network's Suits program in June. The new app is designed as a mobile shopping companion to MrPorter.com, offering zoomable, high-resolution images of products better than what you'd typically find in a retailer's mobile app. It also contains some editorial content imported from the site, including an A-Z "Stylepedia" and videos.

Chrome for iOS saw its first update this week, adding the ability to share pages from the browser directly on your favorite social network -- including Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
Facebook updated its iOS and Android apps this week. The iOS version was updated to run natively on the iPhone and iPad, resulting in much faster performance. Facebook for Android was updated with support for faster photo uploads and emoji in messages.
Pandora updated its Android app Thursday, completely overhauling the appâs look to make it easier to navigate, and adding new features.
The new version of the app offers updated song history â" allowing you to review, rate, and bookmark previously played tracks. The updated version also revamps how you explore music, letting you see full song lyrics for tracks youâre listening to, artistsâ bios, and similar artists and tracks.
