Here's this week's roundup of new iPhone 5 release date and features rumors. This leaked list is carefully compiled and triangulated, despite Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook's 'keen' desire to keep details secret before his big reveal on 9/12. But the cynic in me supposes that Apple PR isn't sad to see continued chatter about the upcoming smartphone...

Among the more anonymous booths at IFA...a mockup for Apple's next-gen iPhone has surfaced. ... It has an elongated screen, a shrunken dock connector, a repositioned headphone jack.

[Here's a] further reason to doubt the device is authentic. ...the markings on the rear of the handset read "Model NO. A1303," which was...the iPhone 3GS. Its FCC ID of "BCGA1303A" was also...the iPhone 3GS.  MORE

 
And Jonny Evans predicts potential problems for Cupertino:

Sharp is allegedly behind in its production of displays...though Apple is also understood to be sourcing screens from LG and Japan Display. ... [They're expected to be thinner...through use of in-cell panel technology.

[But] Sharp’s been facing problems ramping up production...since earlier in the year...[and] uncertainty surrounds its previously-announced deal with Hon Hai/Foxconn. ...it seems clear that any delay...will have a significant impact on [Apple's] ability to meet demand.
