Is this the iPhone 6? Logs show evidence of the latest Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) shiny toy, along with a new iOS 7. Could it be an accidental leak, or is Apple PR just toying with us again? Anyway, it could simply be the rumored mid-year kicker iPhone 5S.
In IT Blogwatch, bloggers find it hard to get super-excited.
Your humble blogwatcher curated these bloggy bits for your entertainment. Not to mention: A tiny herd of owls...
Â
Here we go then. First, Matt Brian glosses up a slow news day:
Appleâs new iPhone and iOS software have begun surfacing in app usage logs. ... One developer showed us that Apple has been testing hardware relating to a new âiPhone6,1'...the app requests originate from an IP address on Appleâs Cupertino campus.
...
Although OS and device data can be faked, the unique IP footprint...leads us to believe this is not one of those attempts. ...sources have indicated that Apple began working on the new version of iOS 7 towards the end of 2012. ... In the past, Apple has released developer seeds of its major operating system updates...in June.  MORE
Â
A slightly bleary-eyed Mark Gurman wonders if this is actually an iPhone 5S:
A change in the first number of Apple hardwareâs numbering sequence typically points to major internal changes. ... Apple has already been rumored to be working on a mid-2013...âiPhone 5S.â
...
Weâre also seeing iOS 7 hits in our web analytics [but] these could be faked easily.  MORE

But John Koetsier stifles a yawn:
OK, that is actually not a shock, and is pretty much...standard operating procedure. ...the only shock would be if the company was not working on new models and software.
...
[But it's] surprising that Apple has allowed...the new model designator to venture uncloaked into the digital world. ... Given the companyâs penchant for privacy...one would expect Apple to spoof an older phoneâs identifiers, thereby concealing the new hardware and software.  MORE
Â
And Michael Westin just shakes his head:
Is Apple testing the iPhone 6? Of course. ... Just like Samsung is testing the Galaxy S IV, LG is testing the Optimus...H?, HTC is testing the Two X, and so on.  MORE
Â
Meanwhile, Head Brainiac ironically chants the Cupertino mantra:
Buy a new one, buy a new one. The next version will have that, the version after that will have it, the version after it will have something. Just buy a new one.
...
If Apple were to actually have a noticeable improvement between models it might be worth it, but they don't, so every 4 versions is probably the better choice.  MORE

And Finally...
LOOK IT IS A TINY HERD OF OWLS
